On a quiet and chilly evening, Comcast SportsNet New England set the stage at the Renaissance Hotel at Patriots Place for an evening of Patriots playoff discussion. Having been invited to the inaugural event in September, I had no doubt that they would put together another fantastic event…plus, the timing couldn’t have been better as were about to begin heavy preparation for Tim Tebow and the Dnver Broncos for Saturday evening’s game.

There were a lot of familiar faces at the event. Of course the “usual Blogapalooza gang” with Erik Frenz of Bleacher Report, Ian Logue of PatsFans.com, Joe Gill of FanFeedr and Boston Sports Then and Now, Russ Goldman of Patriots Fourth and Two and Bob Hylburg, author of Total Patriots were there. These are some of my favorite people to have a beer with as they always some of the best sports stories and I’m looking forward to the upcoming Blogapalooza later on this year. :)

In my attempt to keep things exciting, I made a nice little video of the event. It’s filled with interesting points by CSNNE’s most notable Patriot voices.

I also had the opportunity to meet some new folks like Steve Balestrieri ( @SteveB7SFG ) who also manages the Pats Pub blog on PatsFans.com.

Overall, the evening was great. As you’ll see from the video, some of the bigger questions revolved around Tim Tebow, Josh McDaniels and Wes Welker.

There was also a big question that Tom E. Curran brought up and it made for quite the response from the crowd.

I’ll give you a hint: It involves a certain slot receiver and moolah

Check out the video and give me your thoughts. :)

Spanks.…

Spanks! :)
——————————————————–
Randy Moss may just be pulling the Brett Favre  move we all predicted that he would. No, not the sending inappropriate photos to a random sideline girl. But the retiring and then coming out of retirement shtick.

Before everyone gets all riled up,I am fully aware that Tom Brady has verbalized his man-crush on Randy Moss and would welcome him back to the Patriots with “open arms”. I’ve had some people ask me on Facebook if this is really happening.

We are best fwendz.

Here are my thoughts on this:
- Tom Brady has enough toys to play with on the offense. It’s getting to the point where he could literally throw into any direction and one of his 45 decent receivers will make the catch

- Is it possible to have too many flashy wide receivers on a team? Is it, Cincinnati? I think so

- Why are they event thinking about receivers at this point?! SAFETIES? OFFENSIVE LINE? I feel like those are the real pressing questions.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it would make for some interesting competition between the receivers to throw Randy Moss into the mix (As if there isn’t enough competition?) but this is just getting ridiculous. It’s like the Patriots are becoming a real life fantasy team.

If Randy Moss would like to play again, he needs to go to a team that needs him, not the Patriots. It’s beginning to seem like the Moss and the Patriots were in a relationship that was getting better and then had a really nasty breakup. It’s just not something you can forgive and then act like nothing happened.

Moss needs to move on and when I saw alleged reports of  the news of him visiting the New Orleans Saints facility today, it made perfect sense (although my twitter buddy @JasonLaCanfora reported that this was false. Womp womp). It did bring up an interesting thought for the Saints since one of their top receivers, Marques Colston may be out for four weeks with a broken collarbone.

So for all of you getting ready to get more life out of your old Patriots Moss jersey, don’t get too excited.

Randy, it’s not us, it’s you. I hope you

Every once in awhile, I get invited to events that make me feel kinda special.

Last night’s event hosted by Comcast Sportsnet was one of those events.

I was invited to a pretty stellar event last night presented by Comcast Sportsnet called New England Football Night and it was their announcement party that Patriots legends Troy Brown and Ty Law will be joining Comcast Sportsnet as Expert Patriots Analysts.

Before I go on, I want to give Joe Gill of Boston Sports Then & Now for putting my name on the list with some of the best people in Patriots news in New England. I was honored and humbled to be around people who have made my job as a blogger so much easier with their extensive Patriots coverage.

Not to mention, it’s always a blast to catch up with some of my favorite tweeps:

@ErikFrenz | @NoontimeSports | @MellyHocking  | @JoeyMurr | @Russ_Goldman  | @InBostonSports  | @Andy_Deossa

Please give all of these guys a follow, they’ll provide you with some of the best Patriots insight and analysis..plus they’re all rather entertaining.

With some killer beer options and tasty snacks, Waxy O’Connors was a great spot to hold the event and the food was also rather tasty. One of the more interesting dishes served? Chicken Parm Egg Roll (Satisfied my love for Italian food AND egg rolls. ) Look at the rest of their menu…all of it sounds delicious.

There were some laughs and great questions that bloggers and fans alike asked to Mayo and Brown. Moderators Tom E. Curran and Gary Tanguay did a fantastic job keeping the Q&A fluid.

The best thing about these types of events is that fans, like myself, get a glimpse of how these players are and their true personalities. It also shows the type of relationship they have with the guys at Comcast Sportsnet. It really felt like they were just friends catching up and we were lucky enough to listen in.

I’ll be working on an extensive piece for Patriots Insider about the event some of the things that Mayo and Brown discussed about the upcoming season…I’ll post it when it’s up! :)

For now, here is a lovely slideshow of the awesome pictures I took at the event.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

The Independence Day speech may not be the best or real but it’s a hella good speech and always makes me feel extra American. Enjoy.

“Pink Hat” update > My friend @russ_goldman wrote up his own piece on the Pink Hat Debate and I think you all should definitely give it a read. It’s a different perspective but very well stated. Check it out, “No More Labels for Boston Sports Fans” and if you haven’t already, here is my Pink Hat perspective, The Pink Hat Debate.

I got an opportunity to watch Transformers: Dark of the Moon and I must say, it’s much better than the over-cgi’d crap that was the second installment. The action was efficient and the girl picked to replace Megan Fox was not nearly as terrible as all the reviews said she was.

I’ll admit, there were times where her British accent was a little thick and I had no idea what she was saying. But if her job was just to look hot and run around with Shia LaBeouf then I’d say it was mission: accomplished for Rosie. I give the flick 7/10.

Been relaxing for the majority of the weekend so I’ll be back with more sports news tomorrow.

Enjoy the evening folks!
