Somewhere between the NFL Draft and Manny Pacquiao knocking out a guy from Manchester, I realized that I will be done with college life in less than 2 weeks. There are a few things that I have put on hold during this crazy transition period: writing and sleep. As of May 23rd, I will no longer be a student at Johnson & Wales University. It’s been a wild and crazy ride, now it’s time to get this writing career on track! Expect more updates and articles after graduation..it’s definitely go time!

::::NOW FOR THE SPORTS NEWS::::

First things first, my little brother texted me today saying that I got “jipped” by nfl.com. He said that they copied my headline. See if you agree:

I appreciate my brother feeling a little cheated, but Niko, I don’t think there are regulations for headlines…I still think mine is better though.

If we go back to a few Brett Favre posts, it seems that we have already discussed his POSSIBLE return. Now, I know he’s retired about 56 times within the last 3 years and to be honest, I really think this is the last time. Although I do think that Minnesota could use someone like him, especially is Tavaris Jackson is only ridiculously good on Madden, but I really don’t think he’s worth the investment. Plus, that means John David Booty would have to give up his number..not that he had to use it too often.

GET YOUR POPCORN, GET YOUR QUARTERBACK!, GET OUT OF HERE.

Terrell Owens is coming to a television near you..on VH1. What in the world does VH1 know about sports? Besides New York tackling Pumkin on the first “Flavor of Love” reunion special, I just don’ t see who would watch this show. People, if you are a Terrell Owens fans, that does not automatically make you a football fan. I’ll say this, TO is why everybody thinks that wide receivers are the biggest babies in the NFL. This is not to say that there are people who play this position who aren’t good guys, Wes Welker is a good one, of course. 10 touchdowns, 69 receptions and 1,052 yards in 2008? Coming from a season with 15 touchdowns and 1355 yards. I’m a not impressed with the show that Terrell Owens keeps telling us to bring the popcorn to. When he got traded, I admit, I was …

If you want to watch a sports show that’s WORTH your time, check out 4th and Long with Michael Irvin or Pros Vs. Joes.. both equally AWESOME.

Here are my predictions for TO in Buffalo:
- Marshawn Lynch will never let him live down the crying press conference.
- The Buffalo fans will know what The Eagles, The Cowboys and The 49er’s went through with buying a TO jersey, and then trying to figure out what to do with it when he gets traded in under 3 seasons.
- He’ll get cold, really cold.
- He’ll start this season, do well, give people faith, act like he’s in love with Trent Edwards, then drop passes, then cry, drop more passes, then wonder why nobody wants to play football with him.

Yeah, I think that’s pretty accurate.

*da da da daaaaa da na na naaaaa* Ok, that was supposed to be the NFL song but now that I read it, it sounds more like “The Final Countdown” by Europe. Whoops. The time has come! SuperBowl 2009 is finally here. You know I can still remember how excited I was when the preseason started about 5 months ago and now it’s almost over. I mean, there’s the Pro Bowl, but even I don’t get too excited to see that. Now if it was like past and present Pro Bowl from 10 years ago then I would be all over that. Can you imagine? It would be John Elway versus Kurt Warner. Adrian Peterson versus Barry Sanders. That actually sort of looks like my brother’s franchise team on Madden..except with Matt Schaub as his QB because he used all his good picks for Barry Sanders and Larry Fitzgerald..haha Niko, it’s ok, I respect/understand your logic.

So here’s the main point of this post, as I mentioned before I am holding a contest for all you readers out there who are somewhat decent at making Super Predictions. Here are the details of the contest:
– You MUST post your prediction on the site for it to be considered.
- You MUST post a score in case of a tie.
- You will only win IF your team and score predictions match the end game result.
- Prizes are as follows:
* 1 free ticket to any remaining Providence Bruins game (pretty baller seats might I add, right next to my season ticket seat!!)
* FREE..FREE drinks and food for one period of the game (there are 3 total for all you non-hockey people, and sorry I can’t cover for all 3..I’m still a college student haha)

This isn’t a bad deal guys, if you’re a guy than this is even better. So give me your best predictions.

Here are the predictions I’ve gotten so far:

I love how Erica figured out her score prediction by picking 2 numbers she liked below 30. I love it haha.
You can always depend on your parents to support all of your endeavors, thanks for the prediction Dad.

SO IF YOU THINK YOU KNOW BETTER THAN ALL THESE PEOPLE, SEND IN YOUR PREDICTION.

ESPN –> COACHING—>ESPN
In my Contemporary Issues class we just completed a project and it really exposed that there are more coaches being fired than there are people getting off the Tennessee Titans bandwagon (admit it, the ride was fun until it ended abruptly..over and over again). Well, Herm Edwards, former coach of the Kansas City Chiefs is now doing NFL broadcasts for ESPN. Ok, maybe it’s just one of my dreams to work for ESPN but if the Edwards can go 15-33 with the Chiefs , than maybe I still have a shot. My Madden record against my brother is pretty pathetic though. Here’s the thing, I feel like ESPN does wonders for these coaches who don’t completely want to get out of the spotlight in the National Football League. I wonder if Herm Edwards can come up with cool nicknames like Chris Berman does. Bert “Be home” Blyleven? John “Another Brick in the” Vanderwal? Omg, GENIUS. Don’t worry Herm, maybe in 12 years they’ll ask you to coach like they did Barry Melrose.

WHY WOULD YOU EVER STEAL FROM MANNY?!?!

Apparently this woman in Los Angeles is being charged with forgery and grand theft for stealing more than $89,000 from Manny Pacquiao. Ok this isn’t even a complete stranger, this was his driver’s WIFE. Manny, I’d get a new entourage STAT. I know you’re new to America and that the economic system here is different from the Filipino peso but come on. This is when you ask for help from a bank, or your accountant. Or someone American. Filipinos are not naive people, in fact we’re actually really caring and compassionate to those in need. Hence Manny giving his entourage $10,000 for losing weight and being healthy. Manny, I know you just got $11 million for spanking De La Hoya, please just watch over your money, $89,000 is equal to 4,213,705 pesos and that’s way too much money to lose to your driver’s woman friend.

OBAMA WILL BE SPINNING THE TERRIBLE TOWEL

Why? Why? Barack, I know I voted for you and although I do not agree with your idea of putting playoffs in college football (Tostitos Bowl and Chik-fil-A Bowl just sound too delicious) but your choices in regards to the NFL is really starting to irk me. Yahoo! Sports tells me that you will be rooting for the Steelers for the Super Bowl win. Is it because the Steelers owner endorsed you during the election? You do know that the Super Bowl winner isn’t determined by presidential endorsements right? haha I do have a theory as to why he is voting for this team. I think it’s because the Steelers reach so much more of the nationalities represented in the U.S. Is there an Asian on the Cardinals? Doubt it. If Obama said that he was voting for the Steelers for their hard-hitting defense and unrelenting offensive pushes by Ben Rothlisberger and his ability to extend play in the pocket by at least an extra 3 seconds than I would’ve impressed…it’s ok B. OB, I still respect your interest in sports..especially football.

SUPER BOWL XLIII 6:00 PM ON NBC

WATCH IT. LOVE IT. YOU KNOW I WILL. <3 <3
