- Sebastian Vollmer

Man, I sure do love game days. After yesterday’s ever-so-lovely snow day, today looks to be a perfect day for football at Gillette Stadium.

Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com tweeted this pic AFTER the snow removal crew at the stadium cleaned it up. Those people do some fantastic work!

So what’s in store for today? Although it was not as crazy media-wise as it was for the game against the Broncos, this week was still filled with off-the-field chatter. For Patriot Nation, Ed Reed’s comments about Joe Flacco was awesome. It was a team’s own defense doing the trash talking for us and all that the Patriots have to do is just keep quiet and keep on keepin’ on.  Like it’s been said, if I was a Ravens’ fan, I’d be pretty irritated. I don’t want a quarterback who will just shrug his shoulders and say, “woe is me” when his own teammates are calling him out. Not that he has to be a jerk about it but a simple, “Well, I’m just focused on playing my best this weekend for my team” answer would’ve been enough to shut that defense up…you know, all BB style.

Ok, that was my Ravens Joe Flacco is whiny rant. If you want to hear their comments, check out the video.

Here’s my prediction for the game:

Patriots 35
Ravens 21

Hope everyone enjoys the game! Be sure to follow me on twitter as I will most likely by tweeting it up during the game. :)

Good morning from a snow covered and chilly Providence, Rhode Island.

The pictures above were taken this morning during Rossi and I’s expedition into my backyard which kind looks very similar to an Arctic episode of Man vs Wild. No Bear Grylls here folks, just Rossi and I.

As I promised, I will be diving head first into the rest of these crazy playoff games. I toughed on some of the more hyped up games but the other end of spectrum is just as important..even though we all know that the NFC is meh compared to the AFC. :)

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Baltimore Ravens
January 15, 2010 – 4:30 p.m. EST

Ben Roethlisberger is absolutely terrified of the Baltimore Ravens.

As he should be, the Ravens take on a whole new persona during the playoffs. Perhaps not as effective as the Tom Brady-led Patriots but pretty darn close.

“They’re so good. Defense, every single person and every scheme, everything they do, it just challenges you.” (According to an interview with The Baltimore Sun)

The Baltimore defense, dubbed “Purple Haze” according to some random Facebook group that I joined a few years ago, ranked in the top five in the league during the regular season in preventing points scored. The real battle will be between Ben Roethlisberger and the Ravens’ defense.

“But Kisha, what about the Troy Polamalu effect?”

Valid point, as that big bundle of lustrous Samoan hair is a force on the field and all 45 of the Ravens’ big name wide receivers know it.

Am I the only one is really concerned of the possible explosiveness of this Ravens receiving corps?

Donte Stallworth – Yes he was injured for the first seven games, but he’s still a darn good wr.
Anquan Boldin – 64 receptions for 837 yards, 7 touchdowns
Derrick Mason – 61 receptions for 802 yards, 7 touchdowns
T.J. Houshmandzadeh – 30 receptions for 398 yards and 3 touchdowns
Todd Heap – 40 receptions for 599 yards and 5 touchdowns

As far as Polamalu is concerned, his biggest concern with be that of tight end Todd Heap.  Heap is one of the top players on the list of threats for the Steelers as the tight end has improved drastically during the season as he is getting back to the version of him in 2005 ( 75 receptions for 855 yards and seven touchdowns)…yeah he did wonders for my fantasy team …

Let’s try something new.  It seems like everyone loves lists about everything.  In fact, I just spent about 3 hours of my life watching the 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs on VH1 ( “Welcome to the Jungle” is #1? I totally agree…that, and maybe “Thunderstruck” just because it’s the Texans’ TD song and we don’t hear it very often).  You may be asking, “Why 13 Kisha?” Well the truth is, 13 has always been my lucky number and plus, it’s Dan Marino’s and Kurt Warner’s number.  Those are 2 pretty awesome dudes.

Back to the list.  I know any Pats fan that stumbles across this heading will probably want Vince Wilfork to destroy me, but hear me out.  I live by the mantra, “Everything Happens for a Reason” now although this may not make any sense in my love life (or lack thereof) it does seem to make sense for the other thing that takes up my life, football. Maybe this won’t relate to anyone else who don’t like the teams I like, or maybe you’re a Giants/Manning fan and you really only read my blog so you can find another thing to try and argue with me about.  Either way it should be an entertaining list.

13.  The New York Jets not making the playoffs may finally be enough for Brett Favre to retire..again

Brett, you change your mind more than my sister does at a Coach store.  I saw old footage of you when you played for the Falcons, you had like a full head of hair.  That’s weird. Retire already, and don’t count on me watching your emotional press conference about how you’ll miss the game.  I’m convinced all you really wanted was to be on the cover of Madden.

12. All the sympathetic texts I got from guys the past few weeks..haha

Above everything, sports usually brings out a mean streak in me (which leads to a mean streak in other people) but the past few weeks have been quite enjoyable.  It’s like one of my pets passed away or something.  My inbox was flooded with, “It’s gonna be ok Kish.” or “There’s always the draft!” Thanks everyone, I really enjoyed em’.

11. Florida beat Oklahoma. :) Can’t be too greedy..right?

Go Gators.  I don’t care what people say about Tim Tebow’s future in the NFL or that Bradford won the Heisman, it didn’t mean anything on …
