Randy Moss may just be pulling the Brett Favre move we all predicted that he would. No, not the sending inappropriate photos to a random sideline girl. But the retiring and then coming out of retirement shtick.

Before everyone gets all riled up,I am fully aware that Tom Brady has verbalized his man-crush on Randy Moss and would welcome him back to the Patriots with “open arms”. We are best fwendz.

Here are my thoughts on this:
- Tom Brady has enough toys to play with on the offense. It’s getting to the point where he could literally throw into any direction and one of his 45 decent receivers will make the catch

- Is it possible to have too many flashy wide receivers on a team? Is it, Cincinnati? I think so

- Why are they event thinking about receivers at this point?! SAFETIES? OFFENSIVE LINE? I feel like those are the real pressing questions.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it would make for some interesting competition between the receivers to throw Randy Moss into the mix (As if there isn’t enough competition?) but this is just getting ridiculous. It’s like the Patriots are becoming a real life fantasy team.

If Randy Moss would like to play again, he needs to go to a team that needs him, not the Patriots. It’s beginning to seem like the Moss and the Patriots were in a relationship that was getting better and then had a really nasty breakup. It’s just not something you can forgive and then act like nothing happened.

Moss needs to move on and when I saw alleged reports of the news of him visiting the New Orleans Saints facility today, it made perfect sense (although my twitter buddy @JasonLaCanfora reported that this was false. Womp womp). It did bring up an interesting thought for the Saints since one of their top receivers, Marques Colston may be out for four weeks with a broken collarbone.

So for all of you getting ready to get more life out of your old Patriots Moss jersey, don’t get too excited.

As I mentioned in the previous post, I decided to be Nicki Minaj for Halloween. Although some people weren’t sure who I was, enough people yelled “YOUNG MONEY!” to me so it was well worth the leather pants and killer shoes. Hope everyone else had a killer Halloween, I know I did!

Just when I thought that my weekend couldn’t get any better (thanks to a hella good time in Pittsfield, MA), I trekked back to Foxboro for my first ever Patriots home game. It was definitely an interesting experience from the beginning. Whether it was sitting in traffic because I made the mistake of getting on Route 1 or freezing my ass off because it was so windy, I LOVED IT ALL.

Thanks to Kristyn G and her Pops for making my tailgating experience delicious. It was interesting to park in a secret area, have a wicked awesome tailgate and hike for 15 minutes to get to the stadium. I saved myself some money from not parking at the stadium and also managed to escape three hours worth of traffic after the game. It was definitely worth the walk and as I was told, it’s a hike that a lot of dedicated Patriots have made before, I felt like it was just part of the experience.

So I guess what you’re really wondering about is how the game was, as far as my experience as a true fan. Honestly, I don’t know if I can ever go back to being just a pure fan of the team.

Since it had evolved into part of my career, everything about watching has turned into a process. For example, while people were giving out high fives, I was looking at the rotations they were making on the offensive line and also examining the various tight end sets they were trying out. It’s all become very technical for me and I can’t help it.

I guess my emotional attachments to the Patriots has been overshadowed by my love for the sport of football. I still adore the team and the organization but I guess things tend to change when you have a different understanding of the sport. Above it all, Gillette Stadium is still my favorite stadium and the Halloween game was definitely an interesting one to make my first official experience as a fan.

Above it all, Gillette Stadium is still my favorite stadium and the Halloween game was definitely an interesting one to make my first official experience as a fan.

Here are my thoughts on the game:

I was surprised that the Patriots running defense was able to stop Adrian Peterson as well as they did. Although AP managed to squeeze in a touchdown, he was limited to 25 carries for just 92 yards is something to keep in mind considering he was what I thought would be the most productive person on the offense.

On the flip side, the Patriots running game has continued to impress me. BenJarvus Green-Ellis was stellar with 17 carries for 112 yards and two touchdowns. Those statistics were definitely what I expected to see from Peterson. Not to be overlooked, my personal favorite Danny Woodhead also contributed with six carries for 13 yards and a rushing touchdown. Woodhead also had did a good job blocking and on special teams. In my opinion, he’s this year’s Julian Edelman: short and unexpectedly productive. Woody! Woody!

Oh hey Brandon Tate, when did you decide to be a deep threat? This was surprising, I’m not underestimating Tate as a viable receiver but I felt that his strong area was mostly on special teams (hell, the guy has already returned two catches for a touchdown!) But with a 65 yard reception for a touchdown, it’s hard to overlook what he could possibly become. Tate has the speed to really get the yards after the catch and is as elusive as a ninja when it comes to avoiding tackles. I give this kid another year or so and then he’ll really be explosive. Until then I’ll take the occasional deep field catch for a touchdown.

The booing of Brett Favre when he was carted off the field was a little much in my opinion. I understand people are feeling a lot frustration towards him for coming and going as he pleases, but I’m just not a fan of fans disrespecting a player. Not classy folks. This also includes some of the booing for Randy Moss. Granted, he left on a bad note but he still made things happen for the Patriots during his time here and for that, I salute you Randy Moss. (BTW, sorry that the Vikings released you. I’m sure some other team would love to have you..I personally think that you would be a good fit in St.Louis with Sam Bradford throwing bombs to you that you can actually catch not have picked off because the pass was just ridiculous.)

IN OTHER NEWS:

Logan Mankins is in the building folks. The Pro Bowl guard has finally decided to report to the Patriots and will eventually sign his one year tender. For those of you wondering, the Patriots will recieve a two-game exemption for being over the 53-man roster limit. As explained by Mike Reiss of EspnBoston.com

“…If Mankins is active for one of the next two games, the exemption would be lifted at the time he activated. A roster move would then have to be made to create room for Mankins.”

In my opinion, it would be great to have to Mankins back, free agent Dan Connolly has had his share of success and failure as the fill-in but it hasn’t really affected the level of performance of Tom Brady in the offense. If Mankins can get back into the shape that he was before, then starting him would be really beneficial.

…I wonder if he still has the lumber jack beard. I hope so, because that was all sorts of epic.

::::NOW FOR THE SPORTS NEWS::::

First things first, my little brother texted me today saying that I got “jipped” by nfl.com. He said that they copied my headline. See if you agree:

I appreciate my brother feeling a little cheated, but Niko, I don’t think there are regulations for headlines…I still think mine is better though.

If we go back to a few Brett Favre posts, it seems that we have already discussed his POSSIBLE return. Now, I know he’s retired about 56 times within the last 3 years and to be honest, I really think this is the last time. Although I do think that Minnesota could use someone like him, especially is Tavaris Jackson is only ridiculously good on Madden, but I really don’t think he’s worth the investment. Plus, that means John David Booty would have to give up his number..not that he had to use it too often.

GET YOUR POPCORN, GET YOUR QUARTERBACK!, GET OUT OF HERE.

Terrell Owens is coming to a television near you..on VH1. What in the world does VH1 know about sports? Besides New York tackling Pumkin on the first “Flavor of Love” reunion special, I just don’ t see who would watch this show. People, if you are a Terrell Owens fans, that does not automatically make you a football fan. I’ll say this, TO is why everybody thinks that wide receivers are the biggest babies in the NFL. This is not to say that there are people who play this position who aren’t good guys, Wes Welker is a good one, of course. 10 touchdowns, 69 receptions and 1,052 yards in 2008? Coming from a season with 15 touchdowns and 1355 yards. I’m a not impressed with the show that Terrell Owens keeps telling us to bring the popcorn to. When he got traded, I admit, I was …

When he got traded, I admit, I was a little surprised but I won’t deny the fact it made me like the Dallas Cowboys just a little bit more.

If you want to watch a sports show that’s WORTH your time, check out 4th and Long with Michael Irvin or Pros Vs. Joes.. both equally AWESOME.

Here are my predictions for TO in Buffalo:
- Marshawn Lynch will never let him live down the crying press conference.
- The Buffalo fans will know what The Eagles, The Cowboys and The 49er’s went through with buying a TO jersey, and then trying to figure out what to do with it when he gets traded in under 3 seasons.
- He’ll get cold, really cold.
- He’ll start this season, do well, give people faith, act like he’s in love with Trent Edwards, then drop passes, then cry, drop more passes, then wonder why nobody wants to play football with him.

Yeah, I think that’s pretty accurate.

I know, I’ve slacked off. The last time I posted was when the University of Texas was still ranked in NCAA basketball, yeah I know, it sucks for me too. I’ve been busy with writing for the school paper, work and oh yeah, sleeping. Is it just me or does it seem like everyone has a comment about the whole Michael Phelps thing, my personal favorite is Seth Myers’ from SNL Really?! Kellogs. This made me giggle a lot, too bad it was at 4 in the morning and all my roomates were asleep.

Brett, it’s good to quit when you’re on top..Ma$e did.
I know a lot of people want to know what I think of Brett Favre retiring again. As much I’d like to believe that very touching interview he gave with Ed Werder about being able to “honestly say that he will never play football again.” I just feel like the main reason why he’s retiring isn’t because he’s over football, this guy doesn’t know what else he has left to play for. He’s not playing for the team that he built his career on, he’s 39 years old and Kurt Warner, who’s only two years younger than him was able to be moved around more than the Rams, go to the Super Bowl with the EXACT same record as the Jets…and almost win, ALMOST. I’m nowhere near a Favre hater, I think he’s a great QB.
464 touchdowns passes
5,720 completions
65, 127 passing yards
169 regular-season wins
Those numbers are exceptional enough to make him one of the best quarterbacks of all time. I just really have no sympathy for athletes that play with dedicated fans’ emotions. My sister Kara is a die-hard Packers fan. The day he decided to retire the first time, she called me so devastated that I thought it was because she found out that they were canceling The Secret Life of an American Teenager . When she heard he was retiring again, she was almost indifferent to it. That sucks. If Wes Welker said that he would never step into another endzone again to catch the immaculate thing we call a touchdown, I’d be pretty devastated, but if he did 2 times in a span of 2 season, I’d probably punch him in the face.
If Brett Favre decides that he wants to try another run at the NFL …

If Brett Favre decides that he wants to try another run at the NFL because riding his bulldozer gets too boring, I would completely understand. I wonder if he’ll go to another team with green as one of their colors, hmm. the Eagles? The Dolphins? That’s more like teal. The Seahawks? That’s more of a like depressing, why doesn’t anyone remember when we won the Super Bowl teal.

SIDENOTE: “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey just came on my iTunes and I really wanted to put on a denim jacket and drive away in a 1981 Dodge Charger.

BAN FIGHTS IN HOCKEY?!? THAT’S LIKE BANNING ASS-SLAPPING IN ALL SPORTS
In one of my favorite websites, SportingNews.com, I found this article lingering about a panel wanting to ban hockey fights on all levels. Ok, did anyone even know there was such as thing as the London Hockey Concussion Summit? Derek, wtf is this? This article was from London, ONT too by the way. Is this all you guys do up there? Attend summits about major sports injuries? haha. So the article goes on to explain that fights in professional sports is one of the known causes of concussions. I agree with the fact that sports can be dangerous, in fact, they can be flat out deadly (Except for golf, unless John Daly is smashing your camera up against a tree). But to even fathom the idea of banning fights in general would be ridiculous. I suggest maybe taking baby steps like more severe punishments or sitting in a penalty box for an ENTIRE game. I mean if we can suspend Sean Avery for being the textbook example of a Jerk, I think we can do something about UFC-esque beat downs. I’ll admit though, when the Providence Bruins get into fights, I kinda get all pretty into it and I think I frighten the people around me.

Oh, Marshawn Lynch is from Oakland? The Gun Charges make sense now
That’s such a awful stereotype: People from Oakland are scary/frightening/ghetto. Oakland seems like it would be like Detroit except with angrier fans. I don’t think that the NFL Commissioner has had to create special rules just for another team besides for Raider Nation. Marshawn Lynch! Why? This isn’t even the first time you’ve gotten into trouble, a hit and run with your fancy SUV and now a felony gun charge. Why do all these players have this idea that everyone is against them. Marvin Harrison, Plaxico Burress, Willie Andrews are just a few of the players who have gotten into trouble for having an illegal or concealed weapon. I know life is difficult in Oakland but seriously? You were just in the Pro Bowl and ran for 1,038 yards this past season, why do you think you need to carry a gun around like you’re in Duke Nukem? Chillax and if you do feel the need to carry a weapon and then do it legally, I think it’s cheaper to get a gun license than it is to get yourself out of prison with a $35,000 bail.

I wish I came up with A-Fraud
I really wish I was clever enough to come up with neat things like that. Anyway, why are people surprised by this? All my Yankee loving friends stand very firmly on grounds that the report was never supposed to be released and that its not fair, blah blah. That all sounds quite familiar. In fact, it sounded like every time their team loses, it’s not fair..blah blah. Here’s my view on the issue. I give A-Rod props for manning ( not Eli or Peyton) up and admitting to abusing substances. I think that at some point, something needs to be changed within th league when all these cases of substance abuse just keep coming up, oh and here’s what Daniel Tosh says about steroid use which is just as funny as his Michael Vick bit. Here’s where my problem with this whole thing, the substances that A-Rod took, Primobolan is a substance has been called the ultimate steroid. Primo, when mixed with certain other steroids such as testosterone, is one of the most efective stacks a person can take. It works perfectly with a low-calorie diet (maybe this is why A-Rod doesn’t like junk food?). These things take time to build in a person’s system, so this means that A-Rod had to take Primo at a consistent cycle to really get the full benefit. I’m tired of players acting completely oblivious to the substances they take, I have more respect for people that admit to their mistakes than to those who pull a Clemens and deny everything. Although I didn’t catch the press conference, I did manage to doodle on some of him screen shots from MLB.com.

Oh, and p.s. it is not cool to blame stuff on your “cousin”.

Here’s my rundown on the things.
Oh yeah, how was everyone’s Valentine’s Day? Expensive? Lonely? Awesome? Let me know if something awesome happened.
