Tom Brady is a huge brat.

Like, “I threw a terrible pass and I want to yell at my random wide receiver that looks like a member of Bel Biv Devoe (Tiquan Underwood) and put the blame on him” kind of brat.

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, check out the video below.

The story is that Tom Brady was originally yelling at Bel (or Biv or Devoe, I’m not sure who is who)  and offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien was just not having it. I’ve never really seen Tom Brady react like that and it kinda rubbed me in the worst way possible. In a situation that the absolute worst thing that Tom Brady could’ve done was throw an interception…and that’s exactly what he did. If that happened to me, I’d be pretty ticked off too but I would be irritated with myself, not poor little Tiquan Underwood and Coach O’Brien.

Not cool, Brady. I still love you though. Just don’t let it happen again…unless it’s because Tiquan missed a Super Bowl-winning catch, then I guess that would be acceptable.

Let’s get back to the rest of this game, the Patriots won the game but in the most unconvincing way possible.

The Patriots got the win over the Washington Redskins with a score of 34-27.
Yeah, not too impressive right? This is also the same Patriots team that gave the Indianapolis Colts some belief that they actually had a shot at winning not too long ago.

Am I confident in this Patriots team? Nope. I think that the Houston Texans are more balanced as a team and they don’t even have their first and second string quarterbacks. But does that mean that they won’t fight their way deep into the playoffs.

The Pats won’t impress anyone with their defense but it is this unimpressive defense that will make enough plays to keep their opponents at bay…that is, until they meet Aaron Rodgers, that is. I’m actually worried about those games when a scattered defense will not cut it.  Speaking of the Packers, is it just me or does it seem like more people are ok with the Packers going undefeated than when the Patriots were trying to do the same thing?

As Fitzy once said, “…because everyone hates the Pats.”

The Patriots are headed to Denver this weekend to face the golden child that is Tim Tebow.

All is quieter in the Patriots twitter world. At least, in comparison to when the Patriots were in the running for a Super Bowl appearance and I was putting on layer upon layer of clothing to stay warm during a chilly 14+ hour work day.

Now that we’re well into the offseason for the Patriots, it seems like part of my life is also in the offseason as well. Sure, things at the stadium are pretty quiet right now but with a two-day Taylor Swift and two-day Country Fest concert series this summer, things will get busier eventually.

For now, I’ve tried to keep my mind occupied with the Pro Bowl (meh.) and more importantly, the Super Bowl.

According to this rather interesting piece about how Madden ’11 predicts that although the Packers will come out in full force initially, Pittsburgh will be victorious in one of the most anticipated match-ups in the big game:

Green Bay Packers v Pittsburgh Steelers

The underlying theme for this game discusses just how close this match-up really is. But, as stated in the article, the Lombardi trophy will subsequently go to the Pittsburgh Steelers with a final score of 24-20.

With that final score prediction, this game just oozes with close competition. As the title of this post tells you, I’m thinking that the Green Bay Packers really have what it takes to win this, regardless of what Madden 11 says.

I know it may seem that Necessary Roughness focuses mostly on the New England Patriots but since we are no longer in the Playoffs (sigh.), the Packers seem to be the closest thing we’ve got to a Patriots-esque team. They’ve got one of the most highly-regarded quarterbacks and a surprisingly dominating defense. Not to mention, they came close to beating the Patriots with their back-up quarterback. Flynn There, Done That <–My hypothetical article title for the game. Clever, I know.

WHAT IT REALLY COMES DOWN TO:

1. Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers is pretty darn good.

I feel like a broken record saying this but Aaron Rodgers has managed to reach the same level as Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees before he even made it to this year’s Super Bowl (his first ever appearance). What is it about this guy that makes him such a pleasure to watch? He’s a great play caller and exceptionally athletic. Unlike Tom Brady when the

Good morning from a snow covered and chilly Providence, Rhode Island.

The pictures above were taken this morning during Rossi and I’s expedition into my backyard which kind looks very similar to an Arctic episode of Man vs Wild. No Bear Grylls here folks, just Rossi and I.

As I promised, I will be diving head first into the rest of these crazy playoff games. I toughed on some of the more hyped up games but the other end of spectrum is just as important..even though we all know that the NFC is meh compared to the AFC. :)

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Baltimore Ravens
January 15, 2010 – 4:30 p.m. EST

Ben Roethlisberger is absolutely terrified of the Baltimore Ravens.

As he should be, the Ravens take on a whole new persona during the playoffs. Perhaps not as effective as the Tom Brady-led Patriots but pretty darn close.

“They’re so good. Defense, every single person and every scheme, everything they do, it just challenges you.” (According to an interview with The Baltimore Sun)

The Baltimore defense, dubbed “Purple Haze” according to some random Facebook group that I joined a few years ago, ranked in the top five in the league during the regular season in preventing points scored. The real battle will be between Ben Roethlisberger and the Ravens’ defense.

“But Kisha, what about the Troy Polamalu effect?”

Valid point, as that big bundle of lustrous Samoan hair is a force on the field and all 45 of the Ravens’ big name wide receivers know it.

Am I the only one is really concerned of the possible explosiveness of this Ravens receiving corps?

Donte Stallworth – Yes he was injured for the first seven games, but he’s still a darn good wr.
Anquan Boldin – 64 receptions for 837 yards, 7 touchdowns
Derrick Mason – 61 receptions for 802 yards, 7 touchdowns
T.J. Houshmandzadeh – 30 receptions for 398 yards and 3 touchdowns
Todd Heap – 40 receptions for 599 yards and 5 touchdowns

As far as Polamalu is concerned, his biggest concern with be that of tight end Todd Heap.  Heap is one of the top players on the list of threats for the Steelers as the tight end has improved drastically during the season as he is getting back to the version of him in 2005 ( 75 receptions for 855 yards and seven touchdowns)…yeah he did wonders for my fantasy team …
