In anticipation for what was supposed to be a disaster of hurricane that is Earl, I planned an entire day filled with writing filming and editing. We’re just getting all the rain and wind as I type this so hopefully it won’t be too bad.

Next up: Rhode Island

I’ve spent the majority of the day on the computer and getting so much work done. Between working on a Patriots and Giants wrap up, to doing my last fantasy draft (Team name is Welker Texas Ranger, awesome I know) I found that today was utterly beneficial. I also got so much help from the likes of @dantesterling, @patriotsfootbal and @darleeeeeee from twitter! Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the tips and advice that I’m sure will make my first video blog a great success.

I got the right program, found some wonderful royalty free music to use and have all of my material. So why is it not posted you may ask? Well, editing is kind of a pain in the butt especially if you havent edited anything since high school. I’ll have the video all done and edited before the end of this weekend I promise. It will be worth the wait for sure. What I have learned so far from filming is that I have way more footage of me messing up than anything else. This needs to change, especially if this video blogging this is going to be more of a constant for NR.

I’ve had this blog for a little over a year now and it has been one of the coolest things I’ve ever created (well, my awesome Jonathan technically created the site but I do all the updating and all that wonderful stuff.) I’ve gained some new followers, met some amazing people and have had some pretty hilarious arguments about sports. When I first created this site, it was all about my ramblings about anything worth talking about in the world of sports. Nowadays with the world of Twitter (KishaT) and Facebook, people have been sending me their feedback and ideas through the two prominent outlets. Nothing wrong with this in the least, but I’ve neglected the lovely Necessary Roughness…which is no bueno.

This is no longer the issue!

In time, things often change and hopefully for the better. This is exactly what’s going to happen for NR with Kisha. I’m going to put this blog into a massive makeover (with the help of Jonathan of course). I’ve gotten some feedback from people after they watched my aha video and suggested the idea of possibly doing some video blogging. Like a beautiful Tom Brady bomb in the endzone to Randy Moss, it all just came together in my head. It makes perfect sense: I love talking to people about sports, I’m not camera shy and I think it would be a really cool thing for my readers to see.

This week is the first try of Kisha’s venture into the world of vlogging. First topic that I’ll be covering? The last Patriots preseason game against the New York Giants of course!

If any of you have experience in this, I’d really appreciate some tips/advice/ ways to make it awesome.

Being the perfectionist that I am, I’ve already researched a few of the top rated vlogs and they are pretty impressive. If mine come out half as decent as those, I’ll be greatly satisfied.

Watch out everyone, this is going to be epic.

Before I go into my recent adventure to a polo match, I wanted to share with you guys one of the COOLEST things I’ve ever been asked to do in the name of sports: Film an aha moment.
If you guys aren’t familiar with what this is, I talked about it in further detail in the prior post. In short, it’s a campaign created by Mutual of Omaha in support of people who follow their dreams and passions. As you all know, I’ve always had a love affair with sports and this proved it.

Drum roll please! Here it is everyone, my aha moment. They even titled it so perfectly: sports fan woman. (Click right on the picture to get to the entire video!)

<img class="size-large wp-image-719" title="aha" src="http://www.nrwithkisha.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/aha-640x425.jpg"  alt="" width="500" height="331" / rel="lightbox[roadtrip]"/>
Necessary Roughness: My aha idea!

Thanks to everyone who have ever listened to my rants, gone to a sports bar or been dragged to a sporting event with me. I love you all

Now onto the polo match!

Living in the East Coast has introduced me to sports we never had growing up in South Texas. Among lacrosse and sailing, polo was another sport that I have only heard about but never had the chance to ever really watch in person. To my excitement, they still help polo matches in New England! Early in the week, I received some enticing information about an International Polo match taking place in Portsmouth, Rhode Island which is only a convenient 45 minute drive from Providence. Turns out there is an actual Newport Polo Club and they hold matches every Saturday in the summertime. With my sister Kara on board for actually attending the match, we started the preparation process. Of course, being the planner that I am, I did research on the sport. Ask me about spread offenses or the difference between a 3-4 or 4-3 defense and I could talk your ear off, but ask my what a “period” is called in Polo? I was clueless. Thanks to YouTube and some awesome videos with heavy accents to help me get the gist of the sport. Of course, I checked out Wikipedia to see how the site defined it.

[ from Wikipedia] Polo is a team sport played on horseback in which the objective is to score goals against an opposing team. Players score by driving a small white plastic or wooden ball into the opposing team’s goal using a long-handled mallet.
[ from Wikipedia] Polo is a team sport played on horseback in which the objective is to score goals against an opposing team. The traditional sport of polo is played at speed on a large grass field up to 300 yards in length, and each polo team consists of four riders and their mounts.

This was a pretty sufficient way to briefly describe the sport. I was interested in the actual sport and how it was played, my sister Kara on the other hand was more concerned about our outfits and wanted to make sure that we dressed appropriately for the event. As silly as it may sound, we legitimately googled “Polo match attire” and hundreds of photos came up of Prince Harry and Prince William and their lovely lady friends attending/competing in polo matches. There were also various photos of people dressing terribly at polo matches. We tried to shoot for right in the middle: Fancy enough to fit in but not too bland. This is what we came up with:

Classy but fabulous!

Not too bad at all if I do say so myself. It was such a beautiful day on Saturday that we decided to head over to the match early to find a nice plot of land to set up camp for the match. To my surprise we forgot to bring a blanket but since it was our first match, the wonderful sponsors of Lufthansa gave us a goodie bag with a very nice, waterproof picnic blanket. We were impressed.

As we settled in with our Del’s in hand (a New England summertime specialty), the polo players came charging out on their mighty steeds to warm up. This is where the entire ambiance of the sport really began to settle in. I’ve become so accustomed to hearing loud, overplayed top 40′s hits as football players warm up that the calmness at this warm up came as a surprise. There were some light clapping as each team came onto to the field but there were cowbells or air horns here. Just waves of blankets, picnics and people enjoying a nice glass of chardonnay with their imported French cheeses.

Wicked fancy.

Before you think that only fancy, snooty people attend these events, you are greatly mistaken. There were groups of families, friends and just curious visitors in attendance. Not mention, there were so many dogs in attendance as well. It seemed to be a perfect activity for a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

The sport itself is an amazing thing to watch. The sound of the ponies charging down a field with their riders swinging around a elongated mallet aiming for an almost miniature white ball. What really amazed me was the fact that with eight riders on the field going after a single ball, there were no drastic collisions. One of my favorite parts of the match was during halftime (after the third Chukka) the crowd is invited to get onto the field to take part in the traditional “Divot Stomping”..yes, just like in Pretty Woman. It was such a great time!

Stompin' them divots!

By the end of the match, I’ve become quite familiar with the sport and began to understand the offensive and defensive strategies and that’s when it became even more entertaining to watch. I would highly recommend attending a polo match sometime in the near future. It’s a great experience for any sports fan and also makes for a killer date Just don’t forget the wine, cheese and blankets.

Some interesting things I learned during the match:

Chukkas – The 7 minute intervals of a match, there are 6 total in a match ( Similar to periods or quarters)

All polo players are right handed

The polo field is 300 yards long

This is the email I received during a hectic but fun weekend in New York City. It came from the production company that is helping Omaha Mutual travel across the country to film people and their aha moments. Of course being the skeptic that I am, researched this company and this whole “aha campaign.” When I arrived at their website, I searched and clicked around. Why would anyone want to hear my story about how Necessary Roughness with Kisha got started? What’s so special about another sports blog written by another massive sports fan? After watching some of the other moments they had posted, it all made sense.

To my surprise, they had good reasoning as to why my blog was such a perfect example of an aha moment.

Little did I know that during this process, I’d come across another moment of my own.

With my background in competing in forensics and speech, I wanted to prep for this speech. I had bullet points, quotes and references in my brain that I brainstormed with my sister the day before.
Something happened though when I sat down on the black stool that so many other people with their very own aha moments sat. It was as if, for the first time I didn’t need any sort of preparation. It felt like I was born to sit there and talk about one of the things that I love most: Sports.

I explained that I felt like I was chipping away at this stigma that female sports fans had to deal with. But that I was doing so in a non-angry/bitchy way. I’m not here to shove it down people’s throats that women love sports and that’s just the way it is. I just want to make it easier for a girl to openly and confidently be a sports fan. My life has been filled with opportunities, failures and rejection but that has never stopped me from sticking to what I know…and for the awhile now, what I knew was sports.

Saying this out loud struck something inside me. This is what I’m born to do with my life…whether it writing or talking about sports, it just felt right.

This is the clapboard they gave me after my session, it says that “Being a female sports fan is okay.” Damn right it is

My aha moment was pretty spectacular and I want to send a huge thank you to the Aha Moment Campaign for reminding me that having a passion in life makes it much more bearable.

Look out for my video to come out in a few weeks, it should be interesting.

Contracts, deals and trades. These three things tend to bring a lot of action the off-season in the NFL. Although I heavily enjoy watching how players’ true desires and motives surface, it’s never fun to see happen within your favorite team. Case in point, earlier today Patriots offensive lineman Logan Mankins (32nd pick overall in 2005) refused to sign his restricted free agent tender before tonight’s deadline and has pretty much demanded to be traded.

“I want to be traded. I don’t need to be here any more.” - Mankins to ESPN Boston’s Mike Reiss

As you can imagine, twitter was blowing up all afternoon with comments about Mankins’ selfishness, burning bridges and bitterness. This goes without saying that some fans that I’ve spoken to also expressed their unhappiness with the Patriots organization and their chosen way of handling this whole dilemma. I can’t really say I’ve chosen a side during this whole debacle.

The Patriots offered Mankins about $7 million per year which would place him in the top 5 in salaries in his position. Not bad, but its obviously not what Mankins had in mind. He felt lied to, undervalued and mistreated. When I saw the report this afternoon, I felt like I walked into a heated discussion which would eventually lead to a nasty break up. From the looks of what Mankins said about the organization, this is the end. So say goodbye to the jolly lumberjack looking offensive lineman from Fresno State. It was fun while it lasted.

The word “urgency” means nothing to them. If their Super Bowl winning quarterback’s contract discussions have just been swiftly pushed aside, what makes you think that an unhappy offensive lineman’s contract is going to be first on the to-do list?

It’s not a love affair that they team has with their players…except for maybe Tom Brady. Besides Brady though, they see the players as part of a business. That’s it. Never anything personal.

A move like this by the Patriots isn’t surprising…at all.

On a more positive note…

I’ve always been a fan of lists, tables or anything that puts things in numeric or alphabetical order. Blame it on my small case of OCD, but these things always seem to make their way into my everyday life. In fact, today’s update was on my list of things to do while hanging out at Starbucks at UConn in Storrs, Connecticut. Other things on this daily list?

Walk Rossi

Make coffee

Eat breakfast

Organize paperwork

Read articles/blogs/news

The fifth thing on the list is definitely one of the most important. It’s strange because growing up, I really despised reading. I blame it on the fact that I was forced to read entire series of books in elementary and middle school. God forbid we only read The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, nope it had to be the ENTIRE series. But, I digress. The point I was trying to make was that, now as a “grown up” I find a lot of joy in reading a lot every single day. Perhaps it has to do with my growing thirst for knowledge and the fact that the majority of the things I read are related to football at the collegiate and professional level. My friends tell me all the time to broaden my horizons but it seems like the football world always has so many things going on.

I promise to try to expand my sports interests soon….but for now, football is my main focus.

One of the more interesting things I read recently was a post by Tim Graham called:

The Big Question: Three Playoff Teams?

Graham briefly but rather accurately, discussed the major debate as to who will dominate the ever so competitive AFC East. He also describes the very small possibility that the AFC East will produce three equally dominate playoff teams (Sorry Buffalo, maybe at some point we’ll consider you a threat). We’re all familiar as to why this would come up as an issue. The Jets have managed to sign every big name imaginable during this off season and to be honest, the Dolphins aren’t doing too bad either. Last season, the Jets found success all the way to the AFC Championship Game…and the Patriots were embarrassed by the Baltimore Ravens at home (ouch.)

I like Graham’s points, especially that the Patriots have the 6th most difficult schedule in the league. Whereas the Dolphins, Bills and Jets are hanging tight tied at the 16th most difficult.

I like Graham’s points, especially that the Patriots have the 6th most difficult schedule in the league. Whereas the Dolphins, Bills and Jets are hanging tight tied at the 16th most difficult.

With the Patriots having the most challenging schedule, ESPN’s Michael Clayton still gives them the top spot in the division. I can imagine how this could be somewhat frustrating for Jets fans to hear. Here are my thoughts as to why the Jets are ranked third, behind the Dolphins. I feel like based on some of their recent transactions, they are acting like the really needy, attention-hungry and overly ambitious middle child of the AFC East. Let’s look at few things:

Rex Ryan has been incredibly vocal in ALL of his opinions about every other team in the league.

The Jets have managed to almost every big name that has become available.

They are all about their new and shiny quarterback Mark Sanchez.

Given that these points are purely biased and probably not entirely enough reasoning as to why the Jets will not win the division, I still think that there so much intangibles that the Patriots have as a team that makes them the best. I measure the team intangibles that the Patriots posses is what will get them to the playoffs. Don’t get me wrong, last year’s Patriots never got into a groove. They just never seemed to get things going except for a few, a very select few shining moments. As a fan, I am praying that the 2010 Pats are a better and mentally tougher than that of 2009′s.

What are your thoughts? Do you think the new draft class and off season additions like Holt will bring the Patriots to the playing level that they were three years ago?

God, I hope so.

My newest piece on Patriots Insider just got posted today.

Kisha’s Korner: A New England Specialty

Give it a read and let me know your thoughts. It’s an interesting look at how the Patriots have strategically picked Special Teams’ players throughout the last 10 years. It’s pretty interesting to think about how much emphasis New England actually puts into building the special teams department.
Enjoy.

In college, all my accomplished professors made sure that it was instilled in our brains that the sports industry feeds off of networking. We’ve heard it before so many times, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know” and so far, at least from my experience, it’s been true. This is why being able to attend the Boston Blogapalooza today was such a GREAT experience. <img class="size-medium wp-image-660 alignleft" title="rockposter" src="http://www.nrwithkisha.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/rockposter-229x350.gif" alt="" width="195" height="296" / rel="lightbox[roadtrip]"/> I want to extend a big thanks to Joe Gill for all his hard work and unrelenting marketing of Blogapalooza. It worked, I was really excited to attend! And before I forget, I want to say thanks to Kristyn G for being such an awesome friend(entourage) and attending this event with me. Hope you had as much fun as I did

Besides getting a little lost around Boston (which happens a lot for me ), my Sunday started out wonderfully. Walking into The Baseball Tavern was a little overwhelming at first considering I had no idea what to expect from the event, other than beer, sports and food of course. What I was curious about was how a bunch of sports bloggers would interact with one another. Some people were brave and flew solo to the event, which I admire. Even in a situation like this, sports always manages to bring people together and before we knew it, everyone was talking like they’ve known each other for years.
There were so many people that I recognized from Twitter, Facebook and other miscellaneous blogs that I read on a daily basis. I won’t lie, it was pretty great when I would introduce myself to people and they’ve either read my work on Patriots Insider or have stumbled across my blog somehow and really liked what they read. It takes a lot to make me blush and comments like that definitely do the trick.

Some of the coolest conversations I had were with these fellow bloggers:

Going into Blogapalooza, I knew that there was so much more to learn about the world of blogging and sports. The best things about this event? I had the chance to sit and talk to many respected journalists and sportswriters from the New England area. One of the topics I wanted to really ask everyone? Is it more important to blog frequently or blog based on the events as they occur? The “Quantity over Quality” predicament was something that I’ve been asked recently and have pondered about before. I find this part of blogging to be frustratingly tricky. I asked Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald at Blogapalooza about his thoughts. Rapoport manages The Rap Sheet blog for BostonHerald.com and is also the Patriots Beat Reporter. He explained that quantity is VITAL. He mentioned that it’s what builds the followers, that by consistently blogging, you become that reader’s go-to person for that topic…in my case, the Patriots/football.

Ian was so incredibly helpful in explaining it’s importance. This was by far, one of the coolest/most informative conversations I had at Blogapalooza.

The tough part I think is that going through college, I was taught that the longest essay wasn’t always the most effective. Of course blogging isn’t an essay or a research paper. It’s sort of this weird medium where you can write about your opinions freely and by the magic of search engines, people find your site and follow it. I’ve been incredibly lucky with finding success in this blog and being able to be a contributing writer for Patriots Insider. This event made me realize just how much of a market there really is for sports bloggers and especially for such a Patriots and football specific blog like NR.

Conclusively, the consensus for this question was that blogging frequently is important but make sure it still has personality in it. It’s the personality that sets your blog apart from people just going to ESPN, WEEI or NESN for the score updates.

Blogapalooza was a huge success personally and professionally. I handed out my business cards and collected a few as well. It felt great to be around people who loved sports so much that they dedicate time and effort into writing about it. Who knows what will come from my attempt at schmoozing today, I have a good feeling though that I made some really good friends in the blogging world.

Made it on an early train to New York City. I tried to get some sleep the night before but I failed miserably. Calm me crazy but I was psyching myself out for the fun filled weekend ahead. While I was at the station, an old, angry man looked at me and scoffed as he informed me to “Put on more clothes!” (Note, I was wearing a tank top, jeans and flip flops.) The weather was nice enough and I’d like to think it was pretty conservative. I’m not one to judge and I’m usually really good with the elderly, but this man had no authority to scold over my wardrobe decision. He was sporting some John Stockton shorts circa 1990′s. If you aren’t sure which shorts I’m speaking of, it’s these:

Ah, the old school NBA uniforms are always a fun flashback. So Old Man Rivers (Erica’s term) was sporting those shorts with a wicked tight shirt. And he was judging me? Oi vey.

Other than that, the first day was relatively calm. Had a fantastic lunch at the Tick Tock Diner with Carlos and Eric where we caught up on some news and gossip. From there, I took a train to Bayonne, New Jersey to spend the evening with Erica and Anthony. Best part was as soon as we got to Anthony’s apartment, we both claimed a couch, flipped on the Draft and watched the rest of the Day 2. It was amazing, we chatted about who got what and I even taught him a few things about blogging and twitter. Later in the evening and after the Patriots picked up a total 2 more Florida players, my editor at Patriots Insider suggested I try to write up a quick piece on the Florida team and their…

DAY 2: The NFL Draft

I made it!

It was insane, I had about 4 hours of sleep and I was in front of Radio City Music Hall by 8:00 AM. I was exhausted and sleepy and not to mention, a little cold. But man, was I excited as hell to be there. Day 3 is not nearly as hyped or glamorous as the Day 1. Deion Sanders wasn’t there to interview players arriving in limos in Armani suits. Instead, there was a dedicated group of fans waiting in line and excited to just be able to attend. I was one of these fans.

I went with the throwback Wes Welker jersey because it showed class and just pure awesomeness. Needless to say, I was one of three people sporting the exact same jersey. Not bad considering there a couple hundred fans in attendance. As the 4th round got started, my phone decided to the break so I was completely twitter-less during the entirety of the Draft. It was terrible.

Without a phone, I was able to focus on the Draft and did some exploring of Radio City Music Hall. I took some kickass pictures with the Lombardi Trophy and Super Bowl rings. They has security detail on it and everything, I think they heard my idea to steal it and make it the centerpiece in my living room. Oh well.

I’ve decided that the NFL Draft is the ultimate test in my future relationship. My logic makes sense I promise. I figure, if I can sit with a guy for up to 8 hours with not much entertainment it might be true love. Honestly, if you aren’t a massive football/rookie fan like myself, those hours drag on longer and longer.

One of the best parts of the Draft experience was being able to see Rich Eisen, Mel Kiper Jr., Todd McShay, Adam Schefter and Mort in person. The truth is Adam really does update his twitter himself! I have proof. I thought this was pretty freakin’ cool.

Workin' hard!

So a message to my future boyfriend or husband, I hope you like football as much as I do..or at least don’t mind sitting in Radio City Music Hall for a few hours watching me analyze each of the Patriots’ picks. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

Overall I was pretty happy with the Patriots’ 2010 picks. The tight end issue was addressed and it was good see them pick some players that could make an impact rather quickly. One of my favorite picks? Michigan punter Zoltan Mesko. Besides having one of the coolest names in the entire league, Mesko’s story is a really good one (I liked this from The Boston Globe). Drafted 150th overall by the Patriots and originally from Romania, this guy is bound to have an obscure following. I’m already a fan of him. I think I’m just a general fan of the Special Teams department because of the fact that they’re overlooked until the kicker misses or if the long snapper messes up. The fact that they aren’t the most glamorous or over-hyped bunch of guys makes them just that much more interesting to me. <img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-640" title="DSCF2205" src="http://www.nrwithkisha.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/DSCF2205-350x262.jpg" alt="" width="206" height="155" / rel="lightbox[roadtrip]"> Overall, my Draft experience was an epic one. I actually have a bunch more pictures that need to be posted. I think putting them in an album in the photos area of NR might be the easiest way. Make sure to check them out, I have a picture getting drafted and standing at the podium and also a pretty fancy picture with the Jets Flight Crew. I want to say thanks to Anthony (Erica’s awesome boyfriend) for taking me to the NFL Draft. It was, by far, the coolest experiences I’ve had as a sports fan.

BLOGAPALOOZA IS HERE!

So I know I’ve talked about this event before but I think it’s worth mentioning AGAIN. This Sunday, May 2nd is The Boston Sports Blogapalooza at The Baseball Tavern in Boston. I will be attending with some awesome friends and it’s looking to be a pretty awesome event.

There are some pretty cool people/bloggers attending and it’s a must-go-to event for ANYONE that’s a Boston sports fan. It’s free and you’ll get a chance to mingle, have some beers, eat some food and listen to some great music. They also have a raffles and silent auction going on. If you want to hang out and talk some sports with some of the people that know it best..come out on Sunday!

Here’s the site for more information! Don’t forget to RSVP too!

Did I mention that NESN and “Dirty Water” will be there to film for a few hours? YEAH. It’s that serious.

“I’m not as fast as I once was when I first came into the National Football League. I had a knee surgery, so I think that slowed me down in a sense, but I still have enough speed, enough sense of urgency, enough game speed to play and to be effective and to continue to make plays..”

Torry Holt - 4/21/2010 Boston Globe

Holy mother of experience in the wide receiver position! Just when I thought the off season couldn’t get any better the Patriots go and sign Torry Holt for a one year contract. Of course people are pulling the Galloway card assuming that he’ll struggle just as poor old Joey did. I personally don’t think this will be the same situation. Holt’s numbers are nowhere near to what they were before. You know, when he had like 117 catches for 1,696 yards and 12 touchdowns. The thing is Holt know that he isn’t the player he was before. He’s not here to try and make mind blowing catches like THIS. He did average considering that last season he was being thrown to by a not so adequate quarterback in Jacksonville. With 51 catches, 772 yards and he still managed to average 14.2 yards. It’s really hard not to be excited about this acquisisiton if you’re a Patriots fan..which of course I am.

Speaking of being a fan, check out what I found deep in my hard drive! I remember entering this contest on MySpace and I ended up winning a pretty sweet “Kiss Me I’m a Pats Fan” shirt. I wanna say this is circa 2006? Pretty sure I was sporting a legitimate 3 pointed hat and check me out reppin’ Harlingen, Texas! Oh oh!

Here are my final words on the Holt signing:

1. I think the experience is the most important attribute that Holt will provide for the team.

2. The veteran catch-off between Holt and Patten during training camp will be pretty awesome.

3. Thanks Jets, for taking away our thunder. Really? You HAD to sign Jason Taylor the EXACT same time as the Pats signed Holt?! I get it, you want to win the division. Geez.

So onto the real news….

So onto the real news….

I WILL BE ATTENDING THE 2010 NFL DRAFT!

Yes, it’s happening. This time last year, I remember being pretty devastated because I was required to work an event for my university. I was left to work lights and sound for a play while trying to not go crazy watching the Draft stream live in the sound booth. This is not the situation in 2010 folks! Thanks to my awesome best friend Erica and her awesome boyfriend Anthony, I will be attending the final day of the Draft.

I’m psyched guys. This was definitely on the list of things I’ve wanted to in my life. Even though it is unfortunate that Erica has to work the day of Saturday, Anthony and I will have a lot of time to chat/bond. haha You better believe that I’ll be grilling this guy. What can I say? Anyone that dates my best friend has to be pretty awesome..regardless of the fact that you got me tickets to the Draft

I know you’re probably thinking why on the earth would I choose to attend the Saturday session? Besides the fact that I can only to go to NYC for the weekend, I happen to really enjoy the surprises in the later rounds. Kent State’s Julian Edelman was a 7th round pick in 2009 and he turned out to be a great pick.

Other notable 7th rounders?

T.J. Houshmadzadeh 2001
Marques Colston 2006
Ahmad Bradshaw 2007

All I’m saying is you never really know, 7th rounders have a certain chip on their shoulder. A sense that they have to prove something and whatever that something is, usually brings out a different breed of player.

So if you want to follow my Draft weekend adventure, I suggest you follow me on twitter @KishaT

It’ll be entertaining, hilarious and pretty freakin’ cool.

See ya at the Draft
