Brett is Favre from gone, ANOTHER NFL player getting arrested and that thing with A-Rod

I know, I’ve slacked off. The last time I posted was when the University of Texas was still ranked in NCAA basketball, yeah I know, it sucks for me too.  I’ve been busy with writing for the school paper, work and oh yeah, sleeping.   Is it just me or does it seem like everyone has a comment about the whole Michael Phelps thing, my personal favorite is Seth Myers’ from SNL Really?! Kellogs.  This made me giggle a lot, too bad it was at 4 in the morning and all my roomates were asleep.

Brett, it’s good to quit when you’re on top..Ma$e did.
I know a lot of people want to know what I think of Brett Favre retiring again.  As much I’d like to believe that very touching interview he gave with Ed Werder about being able to “honestly say that he will never play football again.” I just feel like the main reason why he’s retiring isn’t because he’s over football, this guy doesn’t know what else he has left to play for. He’s not playing for the team that he built his career on,  he’s 39 years old and Kurt Warner, who’s only two years younger than him was able to be moved around more than the Rams,  go to the Super Bowl with the EXACT same record as the Jets…and almost win, ALMOST. :(   I’m nowhere near a Favre hater, I think he’s a great QB.
464 touchdowns passes
5,720 completions
65, 127 passing yards
169 regular-season wins
Those numbers are exceptional enough to make him one of the best quarterbacks of all time.  I just really have no sympathy for athletes that play with dedicated fans’ emotions.  My sister Kara is a die-hard Packers fan.  The day he decided to retire the first time, she called me so devastated that I thought it was because she found out that they were canceling The Secret Life of an American Teenager .  When she heard he was retiring again, she was almost indifferent to it.  That sucks.  If Wes Welker said that he would never step into another endzone again to catch the immaculate thing we call a touchdown, I’d be pretty devastated, but if he did 2 times in a span of 2 season, I’d probably punch him in the face.
If Brett Favre decides that he wants to try another run at the NFL because riding his bulldozer gets too boring, I would completely understand.  I wonder if he’ll go to another team with green as one of their colors, hmm.  the Eagles? The Dolphins? That’s more like teal. The Seahawks? That’s more of a like depressing, why doesn’t anyone remember when we won the Super Bowl teal.

SIDENOTE: “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey just came on my iTunes and I really wanted to put on a denim jacket and drive away in a 1981 Dodge Charger.

BAN FIGHTS IN HOCKEY?!? THAT’S LIKE BANNING ASS-SLAPPING IN ALL SPORTS
In one of my favoritpbfighte websites, SportingNews.com, I found this article lingering about a panel wanting to ban hockey fights on all levels. Ok, did anyone even know there was such as thing as the London Hockey Concussion Summit? Derek, wtf is this? This article was from London, ONT too by the way.  Is this all you guys do up there? Attend summits about major sports injuries?  haha. So the article goes on to explain that fights in professional sports is one of the known causes of concussions.  I agree with the fact that sports can be dangerous, in fact, they can be flat out deadly (Except for golf, unless John Daly is smashing your camera up against a tree).  But to even fathom the idea of banning fights in general would be ridiculous.  I suggest maybe taking baby steps like more severe punishments or sitting in a penalty box for an ENTIRE game.  I mean if we can suspend Sean Avery for being the textbook example of a Jerk, I think we can do something about UFC-esque beat downs.  I’ll admit though, when the Providence Bruins get into fights, I kinda get all pretty into it and I think I frighten the people around me.

Oh, Marshawn Lynch is from Oakland? The Gun Charges make sense now
That’s such a awful stereotype: People from Oakland are scary/frightening/ghetto.  Oakland seems like it would be like Detroit except with angrier fans. I don’t think that the NFL Commissioner has had to create special rules just for another team besides for Raider Nation. Marshawn Lynch! Why? This isn’t even the first time you’ve gotten into trouble,  a hit and run with your fancy SUV and now a felony gun charge.  Why do all these players have this idea that everyone is against them.  Marvin Harrison, Plaxico Burress, Willie Andrews are just a few of the players who have gotten into trouble for having an illegal or concealed weapon.  I know life is difficult in Oakland but seriously? You were just in the Pro Bowl and ran for 1,038 yards this past season, why do you think you need to carry a gun around like you’re in Duke Nukem?  Chillax and if you do feel the need to carry a weapon and then do it legally, I think it’s cheaper to get a gun license than it is to get yourself out of prison with a $35,000 bail.

I wish I came up with A-Fraud
I really wish I was clever enough to come up with neat things like that. Anyway, why are people surprised by this?  All my Yankee loving friends stand very firmly on grounds that the report was never supposed to be released and that its not fair, blah blah.  That all sounds quite familiar.  In fact, it sounded like every time their team loses, it’s not fair..blah blah. Here’s my view on the issue.  I give A-Rod props for manning ( not Eli or Peyton) up and admitting to abusing substances.  I think that at some point, something needs to be changed within th league when all these cases of substance abuse just keep coming up, oh and here’s what Daniel Tosh says about steroid use which is just as funny as his Michael Vick bit.  Here’s where my problem with this whole thing, the substances that A-Rod took, Primobolan is a substance has been called the ultimate steroid.  Primo, when mixed with certain other steroids such as testosterone, is one of the most efective stacks a person can take.  It works perfectly with a low-calorie diet (maybe this is why A-Rod doesn’t like junk food?).  These things take time to build in a person’s system, so this means that A-Rod had to take Primo at a consistent cycle to really get the full benefit.  I’m tired of  players acting completely oblivious to the substances they take, I have more respect for people that admit to their mistakes than to those who pull a Clemens and deny everything.  Although I didn’t catch the press conference, I did manage to doodle on some of him screen shots from MLB.com.

Oh, and p.s. it is not cool to blame stuff on your “cousin”.afraud

Here’s my rundown on the things.
Oh yeah, how was everyone’s Valentine’s Day? Expensive? Lonely? Awesome? Let me know if something awesome happened.
